FULL RELEASE : Under The False Sky | [Re]:Idealize

The rest of this announcement-devlog will be more like a little overview of this project's development as well as post-release and future plans.

Development Phase

This development phase was definitely  a ride, that's for sure. Trying to make a 26k word story with 15 characters (with sprites), countless silhouettes, fully voice acted AND a completely remade UI 

Yes, though I did the majority by myself (writing, sprites, bgs, UI, most of the programming) - I couldn't have done it with this amazing team behind me. The voice actors, breathing life into the characters and story, the editors saving my ass during the entire writing process, the monster & CG artists shaping the story together with me, my fellow programmers helping me out with the things I cannot do and lifting some of the work off my shoulders - and the entire Q&A were just godsent! Butter specifically - it was so much fun watching all her emotions live in VC , haha!

But we managed to do it, even with bumps on the way to the finish line. And I'm proud of myself and the team, very proud to be exact.

Post NaNoRenO 2024

With only 3 hours of sleep I entered the last day of NaNoRenO, which was also Easter Sunday - which meant, I also spent most of the day at my family's - but luckily I could also work on the project while I was over. I stayed up until the very last minutes of NaNoRenO (7am my time) to get at least a demo (the first 12 scenes) out. We had noticed 4 hours before deadline, that I wouldn't get everything done on time, so this was the best decision we could make at that point.⤵️

I hit release and then went to bed.
Though knowing I still had a bunch of stuff left to do, I felt relieved - NaNoRenO was over.

To my surprise the days after NaNoRenO, I didn't really fall into a post release depression - at least not as bad as I did for Blood:Covered Snow; probably because my mind was still occupied with getting the rest of this entry done as well as Re:Idealize doing way better than Blood:Covered Snow right from day 1.

Now that the rest of it is done, I can finally "take a break" - aka. work on stuff for college and projects for my dayjob / as well as some UI stuff for other peeps. BUT this won't be all of Under The False Sky, as we are planning to return with another entry in the series for Otome Jam 2024! This time with TWO heroines (yes, two); Adah and Tamara!

Final Words

NaNoRenO was a wonderful and adventurous experience and I am so thankful for everyone who accompanied me on this journey. Throughout the jam I was able to learn so much; about myself, my boundaries and my own limits; but also about team management and how beautifully it can work out with the right people around you.

For the next jam, I will definetly try to scope better (though I will probably fall into my over-scope pattern again, haha). 
I mean, I managed to get this project done too, so same will happen to future projects as well.

Anyways! I think this will be it from me for now - I will take a good rest after sleeping 4 hours on average for an entire month, I think I have earned it~
